TPR material (thermoplastic rubber) is also called TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). Kuhoo TPR is referred to thermoplastic elastomer composed of SBS + PP, and Kuhoo TPE composed of SEBS +PP.

TPR thermoplastic rubbers are generally low modulus, flexible materials that can be stretched repeatedly to at least twice their original length at room temperature with an ability to return to their approximate original length when stress is released. The grandfather materials with this property are thermoset rubbers, but many families of injection-moldable TPR thermoplastic rubber  are replacing traditional rubbers. In addition to use in their basic form, TPR material are widely used to modify the properties of rigid thermoplastics, usually improving impact strength. This is quite common for sheet goods and general molding TPR raw materials

Pre-drying of TPR thermoplastic rubber

With the variety of different TPR (TPR pellets, or TPR granules), the need for pre-drying must be defined depending on the composition of the recipe. Normally, pre-dry TPR material for 1 to 2 hours at temperature 60°C to 80°C. Pre-drying improves the surface quality of all TPR raw material.

Coloring of TPR material

Normally, TPR thermoplastic rubber is transparent, translucent, naturally colored or black. We can provide nearly any color on request. The coloring process, e.g. by using color master batches on the injection molding machine or in the extruder, is quite simple. Universal master batches are suitable to coloring. Depending on the color, an additive of 2 to 5% should be used.

Recycling of TPR material

Due to their thermoplastic character, TPR resin can be recycled. An admixture of up to 15% in virgin material is possible.

Cleaning the machine

Before processing, we recommend cleaning the machine with polypropylene. Especially careful cleaning should take place after processing with PVC. If a material change is pending, the unit must be run empty with the remaining TPR material and cleaned in the same manner as before the processing.
